Family holidays are wonderful, provided the basics are right. The reassuring part? 90% of family stress can be avoided with sensible planning. Here’s how.
The right hotel: use filters
Kids' pool, mini club, playground, family rooms: these four things often decide whether you get to relax or end up entertaining the children all day. With our family filter, you’ll only see hotels that are genuinely geared towards children.
Choose your travel dates cleverly
If you’re travelling with pre-school kids, low season is often the sweet spot. May, June and September bring bath-warm seas in Mallorca & co., beaches that are only half full, and prices up to 40% lower than in August. Our weather widget shows you the best time to travel for each destination.
Plan flight times around the kids
That cheapest flight at 6:00 a.m.? With children, it’s usually no bargain at all. Flights in the late morning or early afternoon often cost only a little more and save everyone the 4 a.m. wake-up. And direct flights, honestly, are worth their weight in gold with kids. We show them first by default.
Meals: half board beats self-catering
If you’d rather not cook or start looking for a restaurant every evening, half board is usually the easiest option. Often, it’s cheaper than à la carte too. With us, you can compare meal options directly next to the room price.
The packing list that's actually enough
Passport/ID (for the baby too!), SPF 50+ sunscreen, medication, favourite cuddly toy, water wings, a tablet with downloads for the flight... and much less clothing than you’d expect. Most things can be bought locally if you need them after all.
